I have friends who have helped me along the way with the audiobooks. Bringing the occasional background character to life, playing the occasional zombie/monster. Or supplying some fantastic music. All of which adds up in a big way, setting the tone, not to mention bringing new levels of immersion and depth to the project.
Jess Newman– She stepped in a few years ago and performed all of the spoken and inner dialogue of the female characters in Resident Evil Caliban Cove. Bringing her into the fold gave the project a level of depth it was truly lacking, and allowed not only for the females to sound female, but the male characters to be more expressive and unique from each other. She continues to play the female characters on the project and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.
Survival Spheres is a channel on Youtube. The music featured on that channel is awesome, deep, melodic, melancholic music that almost always feels like a song that was supposed to be in a classic Resident Evil but never was. The creator has given me permission to use his music since about chapter 10 (the halfway point) of Caliban Cove, and ever since then the narrative has flowed more smoothly, with emotional punch to boot; and I’m very grateful for this contribution. Once I decided to start this project I knew that it couldn’t just be a straight read of the book. Resident Evil has a wealth of music and sound effects that are not only indicative of specific places and events, but they range from mood setting and atmospheric to iconic over the top pieces of music, almost all of which immediately conjure a picture of a moment or a place in the series. Without the fantastic composers (even the ones that turned out to not be deaf and not even be composers;) that worked on these games. My little project would be bland and unappealing to say the least.
